The act of driving while drunk in Fulton County not only puts your life in danger, but the lives of your passengers and those with whom you share the road. Innocent people can be caught in the crosshairs when an intoxicated driver gets behind the wheel.
This is the case for a fatal accident that made national news headlines recently and took the lives of six people. A group of women were traveling along State Route 57 in California after a night out. The driver was a 21-year-old who had a previous conviction of DUI. The woman is suspected of being drunk when she was driving a Camaro in the wrong lanes of the freeway and crashed head-on with an SUV before crashing into another vehicle. Witnesses said the Camaro was traveling up to 100 mph at the time of the accident.
Two people inside the SUV died at the scene; two others, a 42 year-old and 20-year-old died at the hospital. Two 24-year-old passengers inside the Camaro were also pronounced dead at the scene. One of them was the sister of the driver and had recently had a baby. The driver of the second vehicle hit suffered minor injuries.
The Camaro's driver was taken to the hospital for treatment of a ruptured bladder and broken femur. She was arrested on suspicion of DUI and manslaughter.
The family of those killed in this accident may wish to speak with a personal injury lawyer who can advise them on their right to compensation for their loved one's medical expenses and funeral costs.
