Drunk Driver Due In Court For Causing Series Of Accidents

It is not a secret that alcohol and driving do not mix. For years, experts and concerned citizens of Fulton County have warned drivers about the dangers of having alcohol in their systems while operating a motor vehicle. Despite this, there are still plenty of those out there who choose to drink and drive, oftentimes causing serious injuries and even death.

This was the case for a drunk driver who caused a series of accidents on the morning of August 16, 2011 in Carrollton, Georgia. The man was driving a Lincoln Navigator when he hit the back of a Nissan Xterra around 8 a.m., causing the Xterra to enter the intersection. The man drove away from the scene and rear-ended another vehicle just a few minutes later. Again, he did not stop, but continued on to Stripling Chapel Road. As he was driving east, he veered into the westbound lane and crashed into a van. The van’s 39-year-old driver and her two sons, ages 13 and 15, along with the drunk driver, were airlifted to hospitals in Atlanta. The drivers of the first two cars were reportedly uninjured in the accidents.

The man was charged with DUI, criminal damage to property, serious injury by vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident. He has refused the help of an attorney or public defender in his court case, and will represent himself.

Although the criminal case is still pending, those who were injured in this accident may wish to consult with a personal injury attorney in order to receive proper compensation for their medical expenses and pain and suffering.
