1 Injured After Two Semi-trucks Collide On I-85

Accidents that occur between two cars in Fulton County can be serious enough, but when a semi-truck is involved, the potential for serious and even deadly injuries can increase dramatically. This is because tractor trailers are typically massive pieces of equipment with much force behind them.

A fiery accident resulted when two semi-trucks collided in Coweta County, Georgia recently. A motorist said he saw the accident occur just ahead of him on I-85 at around 11:30 p.m. He said that a semi-truck crashed into the back of another tractor trailer that appeared to be trying to pull off the road. The truck that rear-ended the first then continued around the truck and crashed into the guardrail before overturning on its passenger side and catching fire.

The witness stopped his car and got out to help. He checked on the driver of the first truck who was not injured. Then they both ran to assist the second driver to get out of his truck. The motorist helped the truck driver escape while the other truck driver battled the flames with a fire extinguisher. Because the tractor trailer was hauling paper, the flames spread quickly and weren’t easily put out. Fire crews stayed on the scene until 4 a.m. The second truck driver was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Although authorities are still investigating the rear-end collision and say that charges are forthcoming, those involved in the accident may wish to speak with a personal injury attorney about the crash and their right to compensation.
