4 Injured When Roller Coaster Derails

During the summer in Fulton County, Georgia, many families enjoy vacationing at theme parks. There is typically something for every age and personality at these types of parks, and many make it a family tradition to visit one every year.

Although accidents are rare in theme parks, they do occur from time to time. When they do, serious injuries and even death can occur. This was the case for a roller coaster that derailed recently. The roller coaster is located inside the Magic Mountain theme park in Santa Clarita, California and reaches speeds of up to 55 mph. The car derailed due to a tree branch that was lying across the tracks. Because the ride had to be stopped, several other cars on the track at the time were stranded.

Twenty-two people were inside the car when it derailed around 6:00 p.m. Urban search-and-rescue crews were called in to help rescue those who were trapped in the car that was suspended approximately 40 feet off the ground. They worked for nearly three hours to safely free the trapped ride passengers. Two riders were taken to the hospital to be evaluated. Two others were also injured, but evidently did not require hospitalization.

This accident could have been much worse, but it never should have happened in the first place. Those who were involved and injured on the ride would be well advised to consult with an attorney experienced in premises liability law. A lawyer can go over their case with them and help them to determine if they are entitled to compensation.
