Avoiding Dangerous Medications

You trust your medication to keep you safe and fix or alleviate the physical problems that you may have. However, sometimes there are unfortunate side effects that are not predicted or properly warned for. We at Garland, Samuel & Loeb would like to highlight some things to be on the lookout for when picking your medications.

First and foremost is to keep on top of the drug recalls that pharmaceuticals issue. For example, there is already a long list of potentially dangerous medications that are still on the market. This includes:

  • Topamax
  • Yaz and Yasmin
  • Chantix
  • Fosamax
  • GranuFlo

These are, of course, only a small selection of medicines that have dangerous side effects associated with them.

There are also well-known problems with some treatments that are considered normal or commonplace. This can include things like Accutane acne treatments, which are actually quite popular among severe acne sufferers. Issues can include severe allergic reactions or other physical issues.

You should also be aware of your own personal sensitivities and allergies and check every medication’s ingredients thoroughly before actually dosing. However, there are some situations in which an ingredient you are sensitive to might not be included in the label accidentally, or might be written in an easily-missed location. In these cases, it is possible to claim product liability.
